Downloaded Arkham City’s new DLC,

Harley Quinn’s revenge was a bit disappointing. With all the hype, I expected it to a) be longer b) bring in something new to the table c) expand on the storyline. While it did expand, it only closed Harley’s file so to speak; I believe if there is another Arkham game she will be faded into the background instead of playing a major role. The fact she isn’t pregnant after all was one of the biggest disappointment, though expected. I love me some Batman but he was a giant ass in the DLC. I know Harley’s a bad girl and all, but her moruning is sincere. A little sympathy for her and some gratitude towards Robin would be sweet of you, Bats. I think Harley’s outfit was totally kickass and she’s portrayed to her image perfectly. The way she re-designed the Steel Mill was awesome. I like how, despite what Joker’s thugs thought, she was able to take over his operation. If a new Arkham game comes out, I hope they at least let the players know how Harley is doing. And after playing Robin, I hope him and/or Nightwing are fully playable characters.

Although not what I expected, I love Harley Quinn and I love the Arkham games. I’d say 7/10?

I’m not afraid of being sick, I’m more afraid of being well.

I am a feminist, proudly. I love women, I love myself, and I love the movement.

As a woman, I’ve undergone, again and again, some sort of sexism. I got into feminism mostly because of the cultural-beauty issues. And then I learned more about problems in the job industry. And then it was the slut-virgin double standard and the travesty of rape. I decided to major in social work and then switched back to majoring in Psychology in order to become a therapist to victimized women. I hated knowing and watching my sisters suffer; I wanted to set my life down a path to help them and myself, however small my impact was. Being a feminist has made me feel connected to every single woman in the world.

Recently, I’ve seen several images of testimonies of the “Why I Need Feminism,” but honestly I never read them because I was like, “Well, everyone needs feminism, whether they know it or not.” In all my readings, papers written, verbal support, and devotion to the major issues that feminism encompasses, I have never deeply considered why I “needed feminism.”  After seeing those images, I have started a mental list.

I need feminism because:

·         I shouldn’t feel the need to carry an alarm on my keys to walk ten feet to my car after closing the store at night.

·         I shouldn’t be afraid to be alone in a room with a man, any man.

·         When I get dressed, my first thought shouldn’t be how others will perceive me. There should never be a war between my mind and body as long as my body is the way I like love it.

·         My choice to take birth control, and obtain it for free from the local clinic, shouldn’t be a decision for MALE politicians to discuss. It is my personal decision for my protection, health, and lifestyle.

·         My decision to engage in sex and when, where, how, and who with shouldn’t be a marker of my integrity or morality.

·         I should be able to wear what I want, where I want shouldn’t mark me as a potential target. Not wearing a bra to work out because it’s 90 degrees outside doesn’t mean I want to be hit on.

·         Guess what. Just because I’m female doesn’t mean I want to stay home, clean house, and have a brood of children. I don’t come to college to party and meet a mate. I’m working my ass off to have a great education and do something I find purposeful.

·         I shouldn’t have to ask a parent whether a meal is for a “boy” or “girl” and hand over some ridiculously colorful crap.

·         My right to have a procedure to my body and a fetus connected to that body shouldn’t be a forum of discussion because…

·         IT’S MY BODY. Have I mentioned that what I want to do with my body, particularly when it involves my cunt is MY decision because it’s MINE. Anyone else, especially those who don’t have vaginas, should butt out of my reproductive business.

·         When I want to find a job, I shouldn’t have to fear not being able to climb in my career because of sexist obstacles.

·         I am not helpless, weak, or in need of protection. I may ask for assistance but don’t expect me to always be in need. My boyfriend is my partner, not my guardian.

·         Another GUESS WHAT. I don’t like shopping, purses, flowers, the color pink, being a “diva”, etc. and not liking these things does not make me abnormal. It makes me a person with a variety of choices of things to like or dislike. I can’t describe how frustrated I get of stereotypes of what women are supposed to be like. I have watched porn and I read comics, get over it.

·         I shouldn’t have to make a list of the ways sexism affects me.

There is probably more I could, but this is my list as of now. I need feminism to help me understand and deal with the sexism I face everyday. And the world needs feminism to get rid of sexism.
